Friends of Parks is a non-profit organization dedicated to various activities for park and nature conservation. Their website plays a crucial role in allowing members and visitors to participate in park protection activities and obtain relevant information. IT7 undertook the maintenance project for this website, focusing on enhancing its stability and performance, and improving user experience.
The Friends of Parks website had been in operation for several years, with various functions and content added over time. However, as time passed, the structure of the website became complex, and performance degradation issues arose. Additionally, with the increase in mobile users, the importance of responsive web design became more pronounced, necessitating the enhancement of the website's responsive capabilities.
To improve the website's loading speed, we conducted server optimization and code refactoring. Unnecessary scripts and stylesheets were cleaned up, and image files were optimized to reduce loading times. Additionally, caching techniques were introduced to minimize repeated data requests and reduce server load.
To ensure seamless use of the website across various devices, we strengthened the responsive design. CSS media queries were restructured, and Flexbox and Grid Layout were utilized to allow the layout to adjust flexibly according to screen size. Particularly, to enhance the user experience in mobile environments, the touch interface was optimized, and the sizes of buttons and links were adjusted.
To enhance the user experience, we redesigned the navigation structure of the website. We strengthened intuitive menu configurations and search functions to enable users to easily find the information they need. Additionally, we improved the UI/UX design of key pages based on user feedback. The events and announcements pages were designed to be more visually appealing and easily accessible.
To make content management more efficient, we upgraded the existing CMS to the latest version. During this process, we safely migrated existing data and added new features to enhance content management efficiency. For example, we strengthened multi-user account management features and improved the content creation and editing interface.
To enhance the website's security, we applied SSL certificates and strengthened data encryption and user authentication procedures. Additionally, we conducted regular security checks and updates to preemptively block potential security threats and ensure safe website operation.
Through the RENEW maintenance project, the Friends of Parks website achieved the following outcomes:
IT7, through this project, significantly elevated the value of the Friends of Parks website, strengthened communication with users, and promoted participation in park protection activities.
